Quranic Exegesis (Tafseer) Class - Level 1
Quranic Exegesis (Tafseer)
Quranic Exegesis (Tafseer) Class is an in-depth study program designed to help Muslims understand the profound meanings, core messages, and divine guidance embedded within the verses of the Holy Quran.
While the Tahseen class focuses on how to properly recite the words, the Tafseer class focuses on what Allah SWT is communicating to us. This ensures that the Quran becomes not just a text we recite, but a functional compass for our daily lives.
## Target Audience
This class is ideal for:
Muslims looking to enhance the quality of their worship (Salah) by deeply understanding the verses they recite or hear.
Anyone seeking practical life solutions directly from the guidance of the Quran.
Students who can already read the Quran smoothly and are ready to take the next step toward Tadabbur (deep reflection).
## Curriculum & Core Topics
The Tafseer curriculum utilizes an interactive and practical approach, covering:
Asbab al-Nuzul (Context of Revelation): Exploring the historical background, events, and circumstances surrounding why specific verses or Surahs were revealed to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
Key Vocabulary (Mufradat): Breaking down the meanings of pivotal Arabic words to capture the unmatched depth and eloquence of the Quranic language.
Classical & Authoritative Commentary: Referencing mainstream, highly recognized Tafseer texts (such as Tafseer Ibn Kathir, Tafseer al-Jalalayn, or other reliable contemporary commentaries) to maintain orthodox and balanced understanding.
Modern Contextualization & Lessons: Extracting timeless principles (fawaid) from the verses and applying them to modern-day challenges involving family, society, personal ethics, and mental well-being.
## Teaching Methodology
Thematic (Maudhu'i) or Sequential (Tahlili) Approach: Lessons may focus on short Surahs commonly recited in daily prayers (such as Juz Amma/Juz 30) or specific relevant themes (e.g., patience, family dynamics, or manners).
Interactive Q&A Sessions: Encouraging open dialogue on how to implement the divine lessons into daily routines.
Heart-Centered Reflection (Tadabbur): Dedicated moments aimed at allowing the message of the verses to impact the heart and inspire genuine personal growth.
## Learning Outcomes
Upon completing this class, students are expected to:
Experience a renewed sense of focus and humility (khushu) in prayer, having connected deeply with the meaning of the words.
Be able to identify core wisdoms, morals, and foundational rulings from the studied portions of the Quran.
Develop a Quran-centric mindset to navigate life’s ups and downs with resilience and clarity.
